Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
