Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
